EPICZILLA
[CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS]
had high expectations about the Godzilla movie. Month's of following every little detail about it. From the trailers, magazines to the pictures. From interviews to the figures and toys. All day yesterday I was in a great mood because I was going to be seeing it later that night! I felt like a little kid again. Rarely do I come across a film where I HAVE to see it on the opening day.
So the time came and the movie began. From the very start my eyes were glued to the screen. I'm so happy with how the film turned out. Gareth Edwards is a genius. He knows how to make a great monster movie.....By bringing in real emotional characters. Bryan Cranston was just as good as he is in Breaking Bad. The power plant scene at the beginning was really sad. As well as the first muto scene :( Aaron Taylor was also great. However I wished he had just a bit more emotion with some of the scenes. Not to say he was bad because he really wasn't. I just think he could of been more upset in the seconded half of the film.
Now Godzilla himself did not disappoint. The very first time you see him and he lets out that iconic roar gave me chills. I had no idea that he was going to be "the good guy" not that he really is. He's there to restore the balance. I was routing for him in the final act with the Mutos. Which I had no friggin idea that there were two of them! not to mention the female muto was way bigger AND pregnant. the Bridge scene was epic by the way. Oh and the Train part as well.
I liked how global this film was as well. The 1998 film was just in New York?? like no other country would notice. Anyway moving on...
I prey that there will be a sequel. I'm not asking for it soon because it shouldn’t be rushed. But defiantly in the next 3-4 years.
Godzilla gets a 5/5 from me. Sure a few minor things but to hell with it. What is a perfect film nowadays anyway? Can't wait to watch it again at the cinema and will certainly be buying it on Blu Ray the day it comes out.
Godzilla is still the king of monsters.
