Good for the moment in time, but not much else. One of the worst Godzilla movies in the franchise. Haven't seen it since theaters and still don't own it. Not sure when or if I will.

MemberGiganMar-13-2022 8:00 PMIt was smart to push the Action as the forefront of the movie, The plot didnt have much depth but making that not the focus of the movie elevated it more.
Basically just popcorn fun. An enjoyable movie
expecting the worst, sets you up for thr worst

MemberAnguirusMar-14-2022 4:57 AMI was watching Double Toasted's review of it and they described it as a "modern, big budget version of a late 60s Godzilla film", which I actually really agree with. Out of all the MonsterVerse movies, this one really seemed to capture the feel of a mid to late Showa film. The tone and more out there concepts, like the Hollow Earth, Kong's axe, and Mechagodzilla being controlled by Ghidorah's brain, felt like something you would see in the Showa series. Some people might disagree, but I feel like if the movie was made with in the 70s, with suitmation on a much lower budget it would fit right in with the late Showa films.

MemberGiganMar-14-2022 12:26 PMIt is a very flawed movie, but pretty great nonetheless. I think it captures more of the wacky spirit of the Showa era, and also uses themes form Kong: Skull Island.
But the humans were bad, and the only ones that felt half-decent were Millie Bobby Brown and the deaf kid.

MemberBaragonMar-15-2022 6:56 AMIt was kind of confusing, Godzilla destroys boats, Kong smacks him, and then they team up on MG. It was ok, but I've seen much better.
