Composer of the Joker, this woman is an extraordinary composer who deserves the recognition she’s gotten. If you can get Bear Mccreary you can get her. She also has a connection to nuclear devastation since she composed for Chernobyl.

That is one of the most original choices for a composer to any of these films I've read. Ever. I'll have to marinate on this one. I certainly don't think it's a bad choice.

From original, to completely unoriginal...

Another one I’d really like to see is John Powell. He’s able to make music from a variety of different cultures. You need to listen to the Kfp soundtracks and the HTTYD soundtracks if you never heard him.

Same song. Just with a different person.

Yes, they took the song from Carl Douglas for the credits. John Powell did Chinese-esque music for the scenes in the movie.

Brian Tyler would be my choice. In fact I was championing him for the 2019 movie for years--Though I wouldn't have guessed how perfect McCreary was.

To me, Tyler is the closest we'll get to a modern day Jerry Goldsmith. (If I could bring anyone back from the dead, it might be Goldsmith.) Brian Tyler has a penchant for truly memorable themes and creating some outstanding variants.

As for Hildur Guðnadóttir, she'd probably create one of the most unique scores in the series, if not very heavy with reoccurring motifs. (Which is normally a must with me, especially for blockbusters.) She's had a hand in sci-fi with Arrival, which branched her into slightly more relevant territory to this conversation. So I have no doubt it would be a great score if given the chance.

How would you feel about John Powell?

@G.H.(Gman)

I second Brian Tyler. His Rambo scores are very close to what Goldsmith did while still throwing in his own flair and I was a big fan of his Marvel scores for the few he did. (Heroes from Age of Ultron should have figured in the last few films in my opinion) One of my favorite albums of his from an unremarkable movie is his AVP-Requiem score. Let’s not forget he also did the revamped edition of the Universal fanfare that I believe Goldsmith pioneered.

Ms Guðnadóttir might definitely be an inspired choice if they were aiming for a deeper piece closer to Gojira but i agree that it would be unlike any score we’ve heard for a monster movie.

I also toss in a hat for Ramin Djawadi.

Well my ideal Monsterverse in general would have a darker and deeper tone.

GojiJonesy91,
Agreed on his Rambo scores--I wasn't even thinking about those when I wrote that, but he did an excellent job picking up Goldsmith's mantle.

And while Alien vs. Predator: Requiem was anything but great, it's yet another example of Tyler giving his all. He once said he scores every movie he's given like it's the greatest movie ever made--Bless him for trying so hard to elevate garbage like AVP:R, Dragon Ball: Evolution and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I'll probably never want to watch any of those films again, but I'll listen to their scores all day and night.

Tyler also had his hands in a big budget version of a tokusatsu adaptation--His work for 2017's Power Rangers was one of my favorite scores from that year. He could have easily gone the "superhero" route with that, but wrote a very poignant, emotional main theme instead. What a force.

Titan of Water,
I like John Powell, though I think his material for animated movies is almost always better than his live action output. If he's allowed to let loose, like his incredible work on How to Train Your Dragon, then I think he'd be great. But if we just get Solo: A Star Wars Story or his Bourne scores, I wouldn't be too excited.

Well, the rise of CGI has made Godzilla films at least 25% to 100% animation.

Titan of Water,
Haha. I think that's splitting hairs--You could probably say the same for Solo. The point is Powell's animated film output has been much stronger than his live-action film scores. It's perhaps not always his fault, as producers and directors tend to have a little more control over these things when it comes to action blockbusters, but I still trust Powell more with animated movies.

I think either Tyler Bates or Junkie XL would be my picks. Junkie can perform really epic action tracks that really ramp up the intense scenes they're attached to. Tyler Bates knows how to do some really good emotional tracks and themes. His action scores are also pretty well done too.
