Flare above wreckage

I thought the 3rd pic looked like the flare being shot by the drop ship after it had burned a while? The sequence you show suggests a hooded figure (David) comes from behind the crew, shoots the flare and then reveals himself.

It seems David rescues the remaining crew after they have been attacked by the neomorphs on the wheat field. At this point David has long hair. He will cut it later on in order to look like Walter.

This might be spoilerish? Just saying.

I have to be honest...it doesn't spoil anything for me because it is a mystery with the hair short in a relaxed meeting with Captain Oram and then long hair later on when the ship blows up.

It doesn't add up.

I was talking about the new flare shot. Nice close ups- I didn't notice the others before.

dk I did not see the movie so I am just guessing. At this point everything is spoilerish

After the lander is blown up by scared nervous Ferris, and Neomorphs attack, the face hugging is after...I think David already has a haircut by then...

AaronStar, that's exactly what the shot with Captain Oram shows but how does David 8 have long hair when the lander blows up after his meeting with Captain Oram when holding and using the flare gun.

The movie is so close that now I'm too tired to chase the answers. :)

The long hair pic could be from being in his workshop doing the devil's business heh heh from a flashback. When he learns of the Covenant's arrival and possibly of an android presence, he takes action to make himself appear how he used to? How's that for grasping at straws?

On the flare-firing photo, there looks to be two figures wearing cloaks, David8 and another person on the right of the image.

Best guesses are the flare long hair shot is before oram is with david short hair in the egg room.

I really guess and think flare shot is first time meeting david.

Are there two persons standing in the wheat field next to David? Is the flare (light) helping them against the neomorph (who doesn't need light due to the absence of eyes)?

sorry of i'm repeating previous observations but, related to meetwalter update and early reports, what if:

each covenant crew member has their own personal biostamped walter (thats potentially a lot of walters). i remember an early statement fassbender would be playing multiple synthetics, would explain the two walters sharing a smoke(?) and other inexplicable stuff at this point.  

chli, that is an excellent point with the flare in regards to assistance to the neomorphs in the dark.
