Will the surviors go to Origae-6?

So the original destination is Origae-6 which according to the Audi commercial states that the ETA is 7 AW. I assume that is the time frame to get there from their current location. That is until they went to check out what we assume is "Paradise". Which is more likely some type of hell. Do you think by the end of the movie the survivors will still head for that original destination. Or perhaps they will learn of a new destination thet needs to be checked out from the translations they find?

Also the name Origae according to a Latin translation means Charioteer/Helmsman. One of the famous charioteer is the Charioteer of Delphi which is respresented by the constellation of Auriga which in turn is represented by Erichthonius of Athens. According to wiki, he was raised by the goddess Athena and he is credited for inventing the quadriga a chariot which he used to defeat Amphicyton. For this Zeus ascended him into the heavens.

I am not well informed in mythos and things of that sort. Perhaps one of our residents can make sense of it all.

Is there an agenda the mods are not telling us about? ;)

I would think so, as any who survive the layover at Paradise really have no other options.

I have no idea what a AW is.. it does not appear to match any Astronomical Unit of Measurement we use today.

I will assume its very far, because in Tennessee Viral Video he mentions when he arrives at their destination that his younger brother would be way more older than he is.

I am going to assume their Original Destination would take them 10+ years and that the diversion to Paradise/Planet 4 would take up to 5 years.

I think we need to try and figure where does the Covenant go next in context to the Franchise, will be based on how much they are Shoehorning this movie into Alien.

If this is the case, even if by Red Herring...

Then its likely they set off to go to Origae System but while the Survivors are in Cryo-sleep the Ship has its course changed to the LV-223/426 Zeta 2 Reticuli system.

when i did a Latin Translation it came with ORIGIN

Could it be that the Planet they are on (Planet 4) is not Paradise? could Paradise thus be Origae-6 as in the Origin of Life the Cradle of Life... aka Paradise?

Maybe this is what the Tag Line means... The Path to Paradise Begins in Hell?

Who knows... i guess time will tell, i would assume David would want to go to Paradise, thats where Shaw wanted to go, but a lot depends on Shaws condition and also what and where David learns about the Engineers.

For all we know, he could have gone to Paradise, and then left to head towards Planet 4 where he is now stranded.

This could mean the dialog he used at the Cinemacon Footage about

“The gods have rejected mankind as cruel, weak and full of greed,” David then says in a voiceover. “They are a dying species, grasping for resurrection. So they are leaving the earth forever.”

He continues, “But their power is an illusion. They don’t deserve to start again, and I’m not going to let them.”

Indeed i found other definitions for Origae, which indeed link to the Auriga constellation, and here is some of the Stars with Planets known to Mankind as of today.

HD 40979 108LY Away
HD 49674 144LY Away (Star is like our Sun)
HD 45350 160LY Away (Star is like our Sun)
HD 43691 260LY Away
HD 42176 419LY Away

But this does not mean there destination is any of those, but i do think its possible its a Star in the Auriga constellation

The path to paradise begins in hell.

does this mean origae is paradise and planet 4 is/was/became hell?

Is there an agenda the mods are not telling us about? ;)

The most important variable regarding the answer is:
Only if that's where David wants to go.

I don't know where he is going to go but I don't think Scott currently intends for him to go to Origae-6. I believe Scott would have him return to LV-223 so that he can take his 2000 colonists into the facilities there and continue the experiments.

Considering Scott's tendency to "cheat" (his words) with plot development, I could see him using this as an easy way to get David's eggs on a Juggernaut ship. David would make eggs using the colonists on LV-223, he would load all his eggs in a Juggernaut (derelict) to deliver his payload to earth or another engineer world/installation, and that will be the easy peasy setup for an engineer to show up to stop David only to get impregnated while attempting to retake the ship.

If the current box office numbers hold steady in their current direction, Scott is probably going to be forced to go with this option so that everything can be wrapped up in this next film (assuming it happens.)

Oh also, LV-223 will be ripe for some encounters with the Deacon or it's offspring. Another easy out. It'll be easy to style the movie like an alien Jurassic Park since David can make all sorts of new things creating that zoo like feel, and we can also have the Deacon/it's offspring running around filling the role of the T-Rex.

Well also Scott mentioned a war of the worlds type of movie. Perhaps Origae is where the Engineers are. Bombing them with goo wont work as they would be prepared for that. But David might ise am army of xenos to attack

Hmmm...
The points you made are really tempting to me...to make it work I'd have to arrange some engine trouble for the Covenant, which isn't too hard as it did get slammer by that stellar ignition.
The Long-Lost Covenant arrives in the Zeta II Reticuli system, and David finds there's some folks poking around with the building and resources he plans to use.

Folks who have viewed the Prometheus mission-data records and know who he is, and what he's done.

David will probably experiment (crossbreed) with the female colonists to make them produce alien eggs.

The male colonists are not such an high priority but he could use them as hosts to check if his new creations (biomechanical-xeno) are worthwhile.

I like that idea. I'm just imagining the horror of climbing out of my cryopod alone in a dark locked empty room on the Covenant only to notice what appears to be the ship's Walter model peering through a glass window in the door, just as I turn to see a xeno in the corner of the room I'm in.

if you like to be alone in a dark derelcit space ship i can suggest the film Pandorum. It's not the best one but has some similarities to Dead Space.

I remember Pandorum. That movie was intense! Though Dennis Quaid (I believe that was the actor?) had a few cliche moments

Pandorum was great!    One concept I haven't seen mentioned in these Alien prequels is related to the synthetics (David and Walter) going into some kind of energy-savings mode especially David who seems to be malfunctioning.  If you want to live forever perhaps you must take a nap once in a while to reduce the wear and tear on the equipment.  Maybe David takes a nap all the way to Origae-6 - what a relief for the rest of the colonists!

Pandorum indeed...

I heard Prometheus 2 was being pondered to be called Pandemonium but thats before Re-writes if true that is.

The movie Pandorum indeed is something you could picture a Colony Ship that has some of the crew infected with the Black Goo to Produce Hybrids ... Certainly...

Or indeed that part of the Ship becomes a Hive.... i think there is Potential for Alien Awakening to become a Hadleys Hope on the Covenant kind of movie.

@Cryofodder....

Interesting as we have to look at David and ask are we going to see Fassbender playing the whole movie with just One Hand?

Who would take a Single Synthetic on a Colony Mission that looks like its a One Way Trip, without having any form of Maintenance Plans?

Surely Walter therefore has Spare Parts..

As for Origae-6 well it appears it will take about 7 years to reach, and we have to wonder if David is indeed the Xenomorph Creator and this will tie into ALIEN... meaning Davids Eggs Get on a Engineer Ship.. in their Thousands

At some point David would have to more logically obtain another Engineer Ship.... and so having him find one on Origae-6 would be a bit too much of a Coincidence that the Covenant happen to discover a signal from Shaw to a World that these Engineers came from, that she had arrived to after visiting another World these Engineers had been Creating some Seriously Bad Stuff... To then have the Covenant end up that their Original Destination had they not picked up or ignored that Transmission by Shaw...  and THUS end up on ANOTHER World that has Engineers..

Is for me to much of a Coincidence.

We need to look at Davids Agenda, if its to simply Create more Xenomorphs then a lot depends on the Procreation that TWO Face Huggers can produce.

*Can these Xenomorphs Egg Morph?

*Does these Xenomorphs or a Egg Morph lead to a Queen?

If the answers are NO... then David would need to Create Thousands of Eggs somehow... and i feel the Colonists being in their Thousands  (inc Embryos) is surely no Coincidence to where RS/FOX are heading.

To Shoe-Horn the movie to ALIEN... its likely David will go back to LV-223 instead.

Why would he go back to Origae-6 surely he can perform Experiments on the Ship, or just go back to Paradise, as the whole Crew are at Davids WHIM.... unless a Malfunction happens and Crew are awaken in Mass..  David can just pick and choose who he wants to revive as he pleases and go where ever he Chooses. Origae-6 would be too far,  David would just either take them down to Paradise, or to LV-223 or even just experiment on the Covenant Ship.

The only Logically way Origae-6 can play a role is if David found out that this place is another Engineer World, maybe where the Elders are from... and so he has set up from Day 1 with the Company a whole Agenda to get them to that Place, and then intercept them.

There is also the issue of not having the equipment to colonize the planet.  They dumped two large tractors out the cargo bay door and who knows what other equipment that may have been placed out of service fighting the Xenomorph.  I don't think Daniels is that great of a shot. :)

The saving grace probably would be a nice multifunctional 3D printer.   The future isn't so bleak after all! :)

I heard somewere that origea 6 could actually become lv-426. do you think that this would make sense? also isnt alien awakening suposed to happen before covenant and if so are we going to have to wait till the movie after awakening to see what happens?

On a completly unrealated note: do you think that there could ever be a spiecial bread of xenomorph wre a facehugger gets on an android

I think David is going to Origae-6.  The Covenant ship is obviously being tracked by the corporation that funded the mission.  Any deviation from its course will trigger an alarm at the Weyland Corp.  Things need to look normal so David has time to do what he wants with the colonists.  The more time he has, the more he can experiment.  David showed us his failures and he showed his success in the eggs in the movie Covenant.  Still, he had many failures, so why wouldn't he have many successes?  I am sure he has plenty of ideas to make what he showed us in the movie 100 times better.  Plus, the alien that burst out of Oram didn't look like the alien in the original Alien movie.  So it is obvious, David has work to do.  Also, can David take his chances on having an alien bursting out of a crew member he picks to wake up to experiment on?  I assume he does it one at a time for self preservation.  If one of those aliens oozed out some acid blood, it possibly destroy the whole ship.  I am sure their will be acid blood coming from these things since David likes to study anatomy.  If I was David, I would wake them up far away from the others so they don't have a chance to open their friends hypersleep bed when they realize something is wrong.  I think getting the crew to Origae-6 is the safest route for David.  He is an android after all, so he has all the time in the world.  No alarms would sound in the Weyland Corp. Earth office or on the ship since it would deviate from it's course.  I am sure if the crew that is supposed to wake up when things go wrong don't respond, other crew will have to wake up and take control.  They would essentially be promoted as they wake up.

Yet, I do wonder if David and Mother are working together on a hidden agenda along with the Weyland Corp.  Still, not everybody at the Weyland Corp. would be involved on the hidden agenda.  Only the highest one of power, like Weyland himself (but of course he his now dead).  So, who is in charge of the Weyland Corp.?  David?

There is a good discussion of the hidden agenda I was having with another member in the following link:
