AdminGodzillaJan-28-2014 12:28 PMI hate making new threads because this place has enough redundancy, but I couldn't figure which out of the hundreds of "trailer" threads we have this would fit in.
Anyway, this should make some people relax and happy. The Godzilla teaser that was released in December was the most viewed movie trailer on Youtube this past weekend. It beat out all the current superhero trailers and even the new ones for 300: Rise of an Empire and Maleficent, which were released recently.
Here's the article:
Trailer Report: 'Godzilla' Teaser Outpaces New Previews for '300: Rise of an Empire,' 'Maleficent'

Another site reports the same thing, if you're interested in extra reading material:
King of Monsters is King of Movie Trailers Too

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-28-2014 12:48 PMIncredible. It has been over a month and a half and it is still beating out other trailers. That shows how cool that trailer is and how much people are interested in Godzilla.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-28-2014 1:46 PMWhat really helped this trailer is the fact a lot of really pretty female celebs started promoting it on their facebook the moment they found out kid-from-kickass was in it.
So thank god for that.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-28-2014 3:04 PMI think we're missing something here guys... I, Frankenstein came out this weekend, becoming the first film to bein all three major formats (normal, 3D, and IMAX 3D) since the Hobbit. More people probably went to see that, and when they saw it, especially in 3D or IMAX, they probably saw the Godzilla trailer. Since, if you haven't seen it yet, you don't know what it is for the first half or so of the teaser, people probably went home and looked it up. That's just my theory though.

There is literally zero evidence to support that. The issue with this is that I, Frankenstien flopped harder than any movie in recent history. It made only $8 million in three days and there's no way that accounts for everyone, or even most people, looking up the Godzilla teaser. As far as I know the Godzilla teaser isn't even attached to I, Frankenstien.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-28-2014 5:24 PMI'm gonna stick with my unfavorable theory that its mostly because hot chicks are promoting it (A lot of cosplay girls have been promoting it over tumblr, facebook, deviantart and the like-- because they all have the hots for Aaron Johnson) and word of mouth.
People hear "Guy from breaking bad" and they are going to jump on that crap like flies on poop. I know we all wanna sit back and believe its because they love Godzilla-- but generally the public doesn't care. Its not that they hate Godzilla... they just don't care.
So I think the trailer is being over-veiwed by casual fans, teen girls who wanna see 'dat hottie Aaron Johnson' and young men who heard about the trailer by their favorite cosplay model/hot celeb promoting the film.
Trust me, I follow a lot of Cosplayers on facebook and literally in five hours, like twenty girls that I know haven't sat through five Godzilla films in their entire lives are suddenly linking the trailer-- including some random steampunk models.
I think its safe to say word of mouth is the key reason this trailer is watched-- buuuuut I really don't wanna burst any bubbles of fans who aare just riding the popularity high for fifteen minutes... so disregard everything I just said.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-29-2014 3:13 AMThis is great, and does make me feel better about the word of mouth. The trailer is really awesome, and everytime I show it to someone they are blown away. The reaction is usually something like "thats a Godzilla movie?!" The serious tone and beautiful effects are really connecting with people who normally would write off a giant monster flick. This movie really does have the potential to be something special-a blockbuster thrill ride that is also an art piece and acting showcase. Word of mouth is going to be a key to its success, because thats the best way to overcome the sentiment that this is just another big loud forgettable popcorn flick.
The only downside to the trailer is that parents may be reluctant to take their younger children to a monster movie that looks as scary as it does- therefore leaving entire families at home. (although I heard the same thing said about The Dark Knight...and we all know how that turned out.)
But ive said it before and ill say it again - I could care less about how much money it makes as long as it makes enough to warrant sequels...
